Introduction
M onetary wealth may be the currency of this world, but it amounts to nothing when compared to God’s great and eternal promises. By some counts there are more than 3,500 statements in the Bible that promise benefits for every aspect of our daily lives. We do, indeed, have a good and generous heavenly Father.
The devotions in this volume have been especially written to highlight God’s promises. These promises shine light into our lives and give us hope and encouragement. Embrace these promises and experience the power of God in our lives through his words to us.
As you read, we hope you will come to know with certainty that God is eternally invested in all you are and all you do.

Chosen of God
YOU ARE MY SERVANT, I HAVE CHOSEN YOU AND NOT REJECTED YOU. —ISAIAH 41:9 NASB
W hat can we do to win God’s approval? Nothing! His approval is already ours in Christ.
A newborn baby doesn’t need to jump through any hoops for Mom and Dad to cry tears of joy that a child has been born. God does not reject us because we make mistakes. Parents don’t reject a child because she stumbles when she’s learning to walk. We serve God not to gain his acceptance but because we already have it.
Our service to God is an offering of gratitude; he has chosen us! We get to be part of the beautiful work he is doing in our world.

EVEN BEFORE HE MADE THE WORLD, GOD LOVED US AND CHOSE US IN CHRIST TO BE HOLY AND WITHOUT FAULT IN HIS EYES. —EPHESIANS 1:4 NLT

God, thank you for choosing me, accepting me, and loving me. I choose to serve you because you care for me. Amen.
His Purpose Prevails
MANY ARE THE PLANS IN A PERSON’S HEART, BUT IT IS THE LORD’S PURPOSE THAT PREVAILS. —PROVERBS 19:21 NIV
W e all have hopes and dreams, but often we fail to consider how the flame burning inside us fits into God’s bigger plan. Imagine how much more confident we would be if we knew that what we so desperately want for ourselves is what God, too, wants for us.
God’s plans are bigger than ours—much bigger. But he has placed in each of us a passion for our particular part in the grand scheme of things.
Your ambitions may be inspired by him. When we give them back to him, we open up a whole new world of possibility.

TAKE DELIGHT IN THE LORD, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU YOUR HEART’S DESIRES. —PSALM 37:4 NLT

God, thank you for lighting a fire inside me and giving me a part to play in your magnificent plan. Amen.
Always Keeping Watch
FOR HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU TO GUARD YOU IN ALL YOUR WAYS. —PSALM 91:11 NRSV
M aybe you’ve wondered what it would be like to have a bodyguard, to know someone is looking after your safety at all times. After all, it’s a dangerous world we live in.
At best, however, a bodyguard’s brand of protection is limited. That’s why God has chosen to give us divine protection. He has assigned his angels to look after us.
Of course, that doesn’t mean bad things will never happen to us. It does mean no one will be able to separate us from God’s love or take away our faith or keep us from fulfilling God’s plan for our lives. What a wonderful comfort that is.
