This book is a gift to anyone struggling with the pain and shame of a broken past. Over 90 days, Mary shares wisdom from the pathway to freedom that she has walked in front of us. I expect this devotional will become a dog-eared companion to many in their healing journey.
-Richard Leakey, director, Youth with a Mission Burtigny
Mary DeMuth writes Healing Every Day from a me too perspective. She knows heartache, but she also knows hope. Take this 90-day journey with her, and experience renewal and refreshment that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
-Dr. Laurel Shaler, associate professor, director of Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Liberty University. Author of Reclaiming Sanity .
Anyone recovering from trauma knows healing happens not instantly, but one day at a time. Mary DeMuth is a great companion for that journey. Drawing on her own experience of healing from sexual abuse, she takes readers through all 66 books of the Bible and helps them find wisdom, comfort, and courage in the words of God himself.
-Dr. Sandra Glahn, associate professor of Media Arts and Ministry, general editor of Vindicating the Vixens , and coauthor of Sexual Intimacy in Marriage
I have a list of books that God has used to encourage, inspire, and give me hope through my healing journey. I am adding Mary DeMuth s Healing Every Day to that list. Her beautiful writing and honest sharing draw readers into the truths of Scripture and close to the Lord who truly is bigger than our stories.
-Jeanette Hanscome, author of Suddenly Single Mom
Clients come to counseling in pain, and that s especially true in cases of abuse or severe attachment trauma. For years, I ve longed for a book that could accompany clients through the difficult process of healing. That Mary DeMuth wrote it means you re getting a book from one who has walked the painful journey to health and who, by the way, happens to be a quite serious student of Scripture. I will definitely recommend this to my clients.
-Chuck Roberts, MA, LPC-S, www.life-rest-soul.com
In Healing Every Day , Mary once again shares her heart for those who hurt with heavy burdens and encourages them in a way that leaves them feeling like warriors. Mary is a humble leader who has been through tough times herself and takes the reader through each day, allowing them to receive validation and support through the stories of those who ve gone before us in Scripture. This book is a perfect gift for when you just don t know how to speak into a tough situation.
-Emily Potter, center director, Options Pregnancy Center, Alpena, Michigan
For anyone on a journey to heal from abuse of any kind, Mary beautifully weaves biblical truths with personal experience to faithfully lead the reader to hope and healing found only in Jesus Christ. As both a survivor of sexual abuse and a mentor to others, I have no doubt this book will be a treasured resource among many for generations to come.
-Crystal Sutherland, Author of Journey to Heal . Founder and president of Journey to Heal Ministries.
Healing Every Day is the devotional anyone working on healing from trauma needs. Mary writes powerfully comforting words that give readers what their hearts desperately need-the knowledge that they are not alone in how they feel and the confidence that God sees them, cares deeply about what is happening to them, and is at work in their circumstances.
-Aurora Gregory, business motivator and marketing coach, AuroraGregory.com . Author of Get Picked .
Healing Every Day is an ideal companion for everyone who is recovering from trauma or abuse of any kind. Mary does not shy away from the difficulties that are part of every recovery journey, but instead combines Scripture and her own journey to paint a tapestry of hope, of forgiveness, and of the tender presence of God even in the midst of terrible events. I am a survivor of a wildly abusive alcoholic home, and these pages brought me peace on a deeper level than I ve known.
-Chris Morris, general editor of Whispers in the Pews and author of Perfectly Abnormal
For those of us who have endured trauma, especially those who have been retraumatized by the cold indifference or cruel indictment of triumphalist, institutionalized religion, Mary DeMuth s Healing Every Day is both garden of refuge and spring of refreshment.
-Noel Bouch , vision advocate, pureHOPE
To live an abundant life in Christ, we must allow Jesus into those places to bring healing. Mary s ability to identify as a survivor herself provides us with grace-filled comfort; Holy Spirit breathed nourishment and the cool, refreshing water of His presence.

Healing from Your Past Is Absolutely Possible
I am living proof. I don t share this to brag or to put myself up as a paradigm of healing virtue. In fact, my healing journey has been full of stops and starts (majoring on the stops). I have railed at God, thrusting my fist skyward in wrath. I asked all the questions: Why, God? If you say you love me, why didn t you prevent all that sexual abuse when I was five years old? Where were you when my home hosted scary drug parties? Why didn t you rescue me from such isolating loneliness? Why is it difficult now for me to enjoy sex because of what I went through as a child? Why does the trauma from the past-sins against me I certainly didn t invite-still affect me today? Why do I still startle easily?
And yet, I can tell you that I have healed. Not completely. Not utterly. But enough to unearth the kind of purpose that brings me incredible joy. That s my heart for you in writing this 90-day devotional-to take you on a journey of healing through the entire counsel of Scripture toward a healthier, whole heart. You ll read at least one verse from every book of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, gleaning its wisdom as it pertains to your past trauma and present healing. Every entry ends with a prayer, giving you something tangible to do every day of this three-month odyssey.
