ENDORSEMENTS
Christopher Katulka has written a masterful work in Israel Always . He walks the reader through the whole counsel of God and Israel s history as it relates to her purpose and role in redemptive history-past, present, and future. I readily recommend this book to anyone who wants to know why, when other nations come and go in history, Israel always will exist. This book is desperately needed in this day when the church is losing its understanding of Israel s relevance and importance.
Jim Showers, DMin
Executive Director/President The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry
Christopher faithfully presents the purpose of the nation of Israel in God s plan from early history until today, helping the reader understand why the land and the people are called the center of the earth.
He helps readers to understand contemporary politics and how to treat God s chosen people in a way that will glorify His name. Had this knowledge been accepted in the hearts of those in the medieval institutional church, as well as those in Israel s neighboring countries, much of history could have been different.
Meno Kalisher, DMin
Pastor of Jerusalem Assembly House of Redemption
Israel is miraculous. Its landscapes and biblical sites inevitably turn tourists into pilgrims! With the logical yesterday, today, and tomorrow approach taken in Israel Always , as well as the touching personal stories, this an excellent resource for any traveler. And Christopher, with a precise and loving pen, adds an extra dimension beyond historical chronology: his faith in the divine purpose for the chosen people in the land. Unlike any other, this book prepares Christian readers for an unforgettable visit as well as a spiritual journey to their origins.

Books on Israel abound, but each tends to focus on one aspect of Israel s history, politics, or prophetic role. Christopher Katulka has provided readers with a rare service-a comprehensive, up-to-date survey of Israel in almost every important aspect, yet as a succinct and compelling story. His background in Jewish ministry has given him a unique and necessary perspective for this work, and I enthusiastically commend Israel Always to a wide readership!

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
As you read through Israel Always , I hope you sense my passion to communicate biblical truth about Israel and the Jewish people. I want to thank Dr. Jim Showers and the leadership of the Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, who graciously provide me the platform to do ministry and live out my calling from the Lord. I m honored to serve with such an amazing ministry.
My passion for Israel and the Jewish people started in high school at the dinner table of Steve and Alice Herzig, 25 years ago. Steve and Alice s hospitality, kindness, grace, generosity, encouragement, and meals with lots of food sparked my interest in Jewish ministry. One of my favorite aspects about serving at the Friends of Israel is ministering side by side with Steve, my mentor, my friend, and my Jewish sage!
I wouldn t have this passion for the Lord or ministry without the love and support of my mother-Michelle Katulka. During my childhood, my mom directed me and my sisters, Caleigh and Olivia, to the relentless love of Jesus. Thank you, Mom, for always placing God at the center of our family and endlessly investing in my relationship with the Lord. And to my dad-Bob Katulka, who is now with Jesus-thank you for always believing in me and always telling me how proud you were of me. I miss you, Dad. I wish you were here so I could hear you laugh at the idea of me authoring a book.
Years ago, I studied at Dallas Theological Seminary to learn more about the Bible; and there I met Karen, my best friend and the love of my life. Karen, no one believes in me like you do. You ve championed me every day in my ministry. You encouraged me to keep pushing forward with Israel Always , despite the craziness surrounding the pandemic. The Lord has blessed us with a full and meaningful life of love, four beautiful kids, very little sleep, and lots of laughs. I love you!
I also want to thank Steve, Becky, and Nate Miller, along with the entire Harvest House team, for their long-suffering spirit as my young family lived through a once-in-a-century pandemic. The Miller family have become friends; they made my writing experience enjoyable from start to finish, even during a difficult time.
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed-a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.

CHAPTER 1
THE BIBLICAL STORY OF THE JEWS
Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the L ORD : Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was only one man, and I blessed him and made him many.
ISAIAH 51:1-2
T he Bible is the best-selling book of all time. According to researcher, James Chapman, four billion Bibles were sold worldwide in the past 50 years. 1 Year after year, the Bible s reach expands as it s translated into more languages, giving more people around the world access to God s Word.
The Bible that is read in numerous countries and various cultures; among different people and also by you-even if it is in a digital format-hasn t changed through the ages. It s been telling the same story for thousands of years to billions of readers.
It tells the biblical story of the Jewish people.
The Old and New Testaments progressively unfold Israel s history, revealing the people s origins, laws, practices, festival celebrations, worship of God, and how they interacted with the nations around them.
The authors of the biblical books were Jewish and their original readers were Jewish as well. For the multitude of Christians who worship Jesus Christ it s vital to always remember Jesus Himself was Jewish, the apostles were Jewish, and so was the early church.
Within this book are heroic accounts we have tucked away in our hearts and minds from our youth: the parting of the Red Sea, David s victory over Goliath, Jesus walking on water, and Jesus rising from the dead. These are accounts of faith placed in the God of Abraham, Isaac,
