Description

Find fulfillment in knowing that every task, no matter how small, has incredible significance to God. A mom's work is never finished--from changing diapers and fixing meals, to helping kids with their homework. Often the first one to rise and the last one to sleep, a mom doesn't need a special award for her work; she just wants to feel like her work matters and is appreciated. But often, mothers don't always feel they are affirmed for all that they do. While moms tend to look to people for affirmation, the truth is, the only place to find this appreciation is to look to God. Based on Matthew 25:31-46, where Jesus tells his servants that the work they've done for the least of these, they have done directly for him, Well Done, Good and Faithful Mommy helps moms realize that everything they offer their children, they offer directly to Jesus. Moms will find fulfillment in knowing that every task they do, no matter how small, has incredible significance to God.

PRAISE FOR
Well Done Good and Faithful Mommy
An honest and encouraging book every mom will love and every mom needs.
Marlene Bagnull
Director, Colorado and Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference Author, Write His Answer
“Precious mom”—those are the words Megan Breedlove uses to address the “good and faithful mommy” who reads this book. The very heart of this book is to understand how precious we are. Until we truly comprehend how we are fearfully and wonderfully made and treasured by the One True God, we are not going to escape the never-ending hamster wheel of people-pleasing, seeking fulfillment and affirmation from others, and just trying to attain some invisible goal of being the “great mom.” With poignancy and candor, Megan leads the reader through her message of hope, joy and freedom. Her teaching is grounded in the Word of God and inspired by experience and humility. The more you open your heart to the lessons presented, the more your life will be transformed.

Jesus loves you, and Megan wants to make sure you know it! He loves you with a love so deep, so complete and so fulfilling that if you seek to know Him, you cannot help but feel satisfied. This book came at a deeply painful time in my life, and it was such a monumental blessing to be reminded that I have a perfect parent in Jesus who will love me and show me the way as a busy mom and wife. In spite of my shortcomings, He is faithful to help me overcome them. You, too, will be reminded of the precious love, healing and rest that Jesus makes available to His children as you raise yours.

If you are a mom, Megan Breedlove knows your story. Her warmth and easy humor pour into each word in an intimate and tender way. She honestly bears her heart and gently exposes the deep thoughts and needs that most moms keep hidden. If you feel a little lonely—maybe a bit unappreciated—Megan’s insights will help you see mothering through new eyes and discover true fulfillment. Well done!

I enjoyed Megan’s last book so much, so when she asked me to read this book, I was honored and excited. Reading Well Done Good and Faithful Mommy , I must say it felt as if Megan pegged me straight on. I was the young mom of two beautiful daughters but always felt as if I were not a good mom. I can remember saying I felt I worked for my family, instead of being part of it. I had a list of things to do everyday and never got them finished … I must not be a good mom. I never seemed to get the laundry washed and put away … I must not be a good mom. I never felt my family—or God—was pleased with my performance as a wife and mother. As I began to read this book, I figured out I still feel that way. I thank Megan for sharing this with me—it is freeing to know others struggle with the same things I do and a wonder to be reminded that God loves us where we are, not where we are going. Thank you, Megan, for writing a book that lifts us out of who we think we are and teaches us who God says we are.

About the Author
Foreword
By Suzanne Eller
Not too long ago, our family got slammed by a virus over Christmas. One grandbaby landed in the hospital. Three more, all under the age of 30 months, were coughing and cranky and seriously ill. Then it hit the adults.
For the next two weeks we banded together as a family to make it through the crisis. One morning I held 13-month-old Jane on my hip and stirred steaming oatmeal on the back burner. Every time I tried to put Jane down she cried and held on to my sweatpants, begging to be picked back up.
I finally gave up, and we ate Cheerios and blueberries.
We were both snotty, sick and needed a nap. I wasn’t sure if I had brushed my teeth that morning, but I was certain I needed a shower. As I held my precious grandbaby, praying for the other in the hospital, I knew that if I just hung on, things would get better.
That’s why I am so grateful for the book, Well Done, Good and Faithful Mommy . Parenting is one of the most beautiful privileges we have as women, but some days it’s just plain tough. You might be sleep deprived as you nurse every three hours, or a master coordinator as you schedule extracurricular activities. You cook. You carpool. You clean. You correct. You cheer.
And then someone asks you, “What do you do all day?”
The answer is that you are transforming the heart of a child. You’re pouring in encouragement and advice, and you are shaping a human being into a person of character and faith. What you do not only matters; it’s also crucial.
During our recent battle with the virus, it brought me back to the time I had three babies under the age of 19 months (twins!). I loved my babies, and raising them was a gift, but it was chaotic and hectic and wonderful all at the same time. There were definitely days that I needed to hear those words, “Well done, good and faithful mommy.”
As those three children grew up and became new parents themselves, they have asked me for advice. They have trusted me often with my precious grandbabies. They have let me into the moments when parenting is hard and they need a break, and they call often to share the fun and exciting and silly moments.
I can’t wait to place this book in my daughters’ and daughter-in-love’s hands as they take care of the daily to-dos of being a mom. I just know they will benefit as Megan comes alongside in the trenches to share practical encouragement, humor and raw honesty as moms all over the nation work hard at the most important job of all.

Acknowledgments
With gratitude, I acknowledge the following for their contributions to the writing of this book:
My husband, Phil. Without your willingness to take on the lion’s share of the childcare and housework duties at times so I could write, this book would never have happened. Thank you for believing in me not only as a writer but also as a mom.
My children, Ellie, Kenny, Lindsey, Jessica and Timmy. You are the best five kids I could ever ask for. I have learned and received so much from you. Thank you for being willing to share Mommy’s attention when Mommy was writing. Wait until you hear the post-book celebration Mommy has planned for all of us!
All the precious moms who shared their stories with me. Some quotes made it directly into this book; unfortunately, there wasn’t room to use them all. But each of you helped me learn and grow. Any ministry God brings about through this book is partly yours.
My editor, Kim Bangs. I love what you’ve done with this project. You have a God-given ability to see what’s there and tweak it in just the right way so it’ll best express what God wants it to say to everyone who reads it. I love knowing that someone who truly loves God was shepherding this book.
All of you who prayed for me as I worked on this book. Some of you, I’ve met in person; others, I’ve only met online. But all of you approached the throne of grace on my behalf. There is no greater thing you could have done for me. This book is God’s answer to your prayers. Any ministry He brings from it is partly yours as well.
Introduction
I think God wanted me to write this book because He knew I needed the message too.
Had you asked me before I had children, however, I would have told you I didn’t need any special encouragement. You see, in my pre-child days, I knew exactly how being a parent was going to go. And it was going to be easy. After all , I thought, how hard can this parenting thing be? They’re little; I’m big. They’re inexperienced; I’ve read lots of books on parenti
