Description

What's a rundown mom to do? Her spirit yearns to soar, but her feet--and faith--are stuck in the diaper-by-diaper mud of everyday responsibilities. How can she de-muck when she's chronically exhausted and relentlessly robbed of abundant life by the joy-sucking dully-funks? This offbeat glimpse of reality with a tangy twist helps busy moms get in touch with rejuvenating joy and empowering faith! In mom-to-mom, smile-eliciting style, humorist Debora Coty doesn't lollygag around the hot topics such as enduring marriage, embarrassing children, defeating depression, and grossfully (er, gracefully) aging. Unique insights and outrageous coping tips are shared alongside sisterly hugs and warm encouragement. Mom Needs Chocolate is a veritable grocery list of mud-between-your-toes issues, tackled with witty frankness and wild abandon. Young-at-heart mothers of all ages will enjoy hilarious and heartwarming stories that apply Scripture to real life and remind them how to hear God's still, small voice amidst blathering kids, howling pets, and snarling traffic!

Introduction
Who says communion with God must be serious hands-piously-folded periods of prayer on bended knee? Yeesh! As busy moms, who has time for that ?
I say God is a living creator who breathes His spirit into those devoted to Him in a dynamic, 24/7 relationship. He wants to communicate with us by walking, talking, scraping peanut butter out of the carpet and driving carpool right alongside us.
Whether working within or without our homes, we mothers are consumed by schedules, deadlines, responsibilities, debts— the muck and mire of everyday living. Our spirits yearn to soar but our feet are stuck fast in the mud of daily obligations. We’re chronically exhausted and a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Somehow the joy of the Lord checks out on our doorstep.
How, then, can we rejuvenate and redirect our steps toward positive spiritual growth on a day-by-day, diaper-by-diaper level?
Sister, grab a triple chocolate chunk cookie and a cup of hot tea. Come chill with me. Together we’ll rediscover God’s divinely orchestrated levity of love all around us. And our Father has an amazing sense of humor! He made us, didn’t He? Humor is God’s catalyst for releasing joy into our souls! He’s the master of heaven and mirth, creator of aardvarks, spoonbill platypuses and cowlicks. And He wants us to be filled with His joy, not weighed down by the joy-sucking dully-funks.
Blast those dully-funks, a mother’s archenemy!
Oh, c’mon girl, you’ve been there—that black hole when nothing particularly bad is happening, just nothing good . Our minds fog, emotions go numb, eyes glaze over; and we move like autotrons in a perpetual state of spiritual dullness.
A busy woman can spend weeks, even years, in the dully-funks, functioning, taking care of her family but NOT experiencing the fullness of life Jesus promised to believers in John 10:10: “My purpose is to give life in all its fullness” ( NLT ).
That’s what this book’s all about—a mom helping other moms trust God to interject His joy as we learn to apply His Word in our crazy, mud-between-the-toes, help-us-Jesus-before-we-tear-our-last-hairs-out real li
