Book sales contribute more than $800 million annually to the $9.9 billion self-improvement industry, according to research from Marketdata Enterprises, and sales of self-improvement books are increasing by about six percent a year.  Women ages 35-55 – the sweet spot of You, Recharged’s audience -- buy the majority of self-help books and self-improvement products.

According to the Audio Publisher’s Association, sales of self-help audiobooks are a nearly $800 million market that is growing at around six percent a year. You, Recharged – and its conversational voice – lends itself well to the 24-million-buyers in the audiobook market.

There is a ready-made market for You, Recharged across multiple platforms.

Women, ages 35 to 55 are the primary target market for You, Recharged.  Overall, readers of You, Recharged: How to Beat Fatigue (mostly), Amp Up Your Energy (usually), and Enjoy Life Again (always), are college-educated, active women who are working, conscientious about their relationships and parenting responsibilities, while also trying to take care of themselves with regular exercise, healthier food choices, personal growth practices, and meaningful activities. Many feel a personal responsibility to make a positive difference in their communities, but they no longer know what inspires them, or excites them.

They are all-of-the-time tired, overwhelmed and anxious, and dissatisfied in a way that they’ve never been before. This is frightening for many who have already accomplished so much. On paper, they have good lives and yet the feel so bored and unhappy. They feel stuck in this sensible, comfortable routine the is no longer interesting or even meaningful. This boredom is driving other negative behaviors – over-drinking and over-eating, for example – which leaves these women feeling ashamed, frustrated, and disappointed. They wonder what their problem is, why they can’t just get it together.

They want to be healthier, more aware, engaged, and connected – they want to have more fun -- but they no longer know how to do it. The thought of making huge, comprehensive changes feels like one more thing they have to add to the to-do list.

But these readers know there is something better. They recognize that meaning and joy are not the results of external fixes, but internal awareness and inspired actions that they can take. They are looking for small, in-the-moment practical strategies that offer immediate benefits (and that they can teach their school-age children). They want results now and they want the practices themselves to be a fun entre into self-discovery. These readers are not time wasters. They want the science, the strategy, and access to practical approaches that will help them right now to live a better life. They want books like You, Recharged.
