Description

From the author of the New York Times bestselling The Rice Diet Solution-a practical 30-day plan for inner healing and lasting weight loss

Since 1939, the world-renowned Rice Diet has been one of the most medically sound, effective, and sustainable weight loss programs, with 43% of participants maintaining their weight loss after six years. Now, building on the Rice Diet's success, The Rice Diet Renewal goes beyond what you eat to help you heal the roots of the emotional, mental, and spiritual underpinnings that often get in the way of achieving and maintaining weight loss.

  • Gives you the framework you need to break down the psychological and behavioral barriers to sustainable weight loss
  • Presents a scientifically based 4-step foundation for Cleansing Your Body, Healing Your Heart, Empowering Your Mind, and Connecting with Your Spirit
  • Offers the latest science needed to transcend a limiting diet perspective, to a sustainable dieta, a way of life that promotes optimal weight and health
  • Gives you practical, active tools to meet weight-loss and health goals, such as music therapy, journaling, creative exercises like dream boards and other deep healing therapeutic approaches including emotional freedom technique (EFT)
  • Includes inspiring stories of "Ricers" who have found weight-loss success, sometimes after years of failure with traditional diets
  • Provides a 4-week menu of seasonal, organic, local foods, naturally low in saturated fat, sodium, and sugar, empowering you with the desire for conscious consumption

Going far deeper than diet, The Rice Diet Renewal empowers you to change the thoughts and beliefs that may have limited your weight-loss success in the past so that you can reach the weight, healing, and life goals you desire at last.

A Note to the Reader
It is important to check with your physician prior to beginning any diet, especially if you are taking any medications. Due to the rapid weight loss with the Rice Diet, it is important to consult with your physician before reducing your fat, sodium, and calories. You may be on medication that will need to be altered or discontinued before changing your diet, and your doctor is the best person to help you do this. Do not make any changes in your medication regimen without your physician’s advice. Since many physicians and health care professionals are unfamiliar with the impact of a truly low-sodium diet, you should point out the low sodium content of the Rice Diet to your doctor. Feel free, as well, to refer your physician to the Rice Diet Clinic, and we will be happy to be of assistance. We can be reached at www.ricediet.com . We also recommend that you keep a record of your weight, any heart disease risk factors, and any other health predictors that you are aware of having.
Acknowledgments
On this seventy-year anniversary of the Rice Diet Program, my heart is filled with gratitude for all who have contributed and participated in this unique approach to healing. From our founder, Dr. Walter Kempner, who passed the torch to our director, our cardiologist, and my husband, Dr. Robert Rosati; to our poet in residence and endocrinologist, Dr. Frank Neelon; and to our amazing dietitians, interns, consulting practitioners, secretaries, and kitchen staff, I give thanks. My deep appreciation goes to Jayne Charles, Judy Rivers, and Betsy Hamilton, who answer the phone calls and e-mails of the public; to our dietitians, especially Anna LaBarre, Ryan Sobus, Cece Eckert, Maura Lairson, and Sarah Jones; to the kitchen staff’s loving touch in creating delicious meals from locally grown, organic ingredients—these culinary artists include Nancy Navarro, Derek Treuer, Cassandra Davis, Raheem Huggins, and many other loving people. Thanks to all of our staff members, who feed us on so many different levels, nurturing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health not only of the Ricer community here, but also of the growing numbers of readers who have learned this dieta at home. May blessings abound for them and for everyone who is committed to inspiring others to make the most of their gifts, to seek true health, and to live their lives to the fullest.
This book can stretch us to heal ourselves by grappling with the root of our issues. It can catapult and sustain the changes we make to our health and our lives. The book is greatly enriched by the addition of true healing stories provided by our Ricer community and from my own life and family. All of these stories are true; they are not composites that we created to exaggerate or embellish a story. I have found truth to be more transformative than fiction, so only the names have been changed. I commend those who have shared their stories for “showing up” for themselves and choosing to “make a difference” with their lives. I am forever grateful to everyone who bravely shared his or her truth with the hope and intention of helping others, who in turn will pay it forward and inspire yet more people to embrace the health rewards of the Rice dieta .
Many sojourners who are gifted in healing and various practitioners of energy medicine have graced our grounds and my life; my appreciation for them is beyond measure. It is one of my greatest joys and marvels to experience and share in what has been called inner healing, or the healing of memories that affect not only our past but also our future health. Special thanks to these
