Description
As a Black Woman in a white dominant culture, I wish I had a guide to know how to maneuver in life, especially in the workplace. I wish I had a guide to help me be resilient understanding the social construct I was in. I wish I had tips at an early age to easier my growth. Not only extraordinary stories of very important and well known Black Women as they help too, but a story similar to mine : a Liberian Black Woman living in a country where Black people are 5% of the population and Liberian, less than one percent. Where opportunities that are held to you are not the ones that your community can provide but the ones you build.Up to today, as a Liberian Black Woman in Paris, I’ve been branded so many times and by so many names. While growing, one life episode after another, I started to recognize a pattern of behavior, a way people react according to each tag they stick on my forehead. Each time, I reversed the energy transforming bumps and obstacles into opportunities to shine. At least, I tried. How I did it, is what I am sharing with you in this book.Branded is a guide where I share my experiences and stories giving with each anecdote, good or bad, personal development and branding tips to help the next generation of Women, of Black Women, with a particular shout out to Black Liberian Women to thrive no matter where they are in the world. My name is Laura Brown, I am a Black Liberian Woman born in France that went from growing in a very modest neighborhood, in a small town in the East of France, to moving to Paris making a name for myself. I went from working in a car factory as a student to pay for my studies to working in the Fashion Industry. I am now a Coach & Consultant in Brand Development and will use my expertise as well to nourish this guide.
