Description

Before Cara Fleming became a detective for the Chicago Police Department, she lived in the shadowy depths of homelessness. Now, when her apartment is set ablaze in an attempt to stop one of her investigations, she plunges undercover into street life again to protect herself. Bryan O'Shaugnessy, an Episcopal priest on the south side of Chicago, has a new project on his hands: the soup kitchen his church sponsors. Overworked, harried, and lonely, he finds himself surprisingly drawn to the new volunteer named Cara. Against this backdrop of hide-and-seek with criminals who will stop at nothing, Bryan unexpectedly meets the love of his life. Will he be able to convince Cara to accept the possibility of a home with him?

What Readers Are Saying About Sally John
The Other Way Home series:
A Journey by Chance A Journey by Chanceis a wonderfully moving book about Dr. Gina Philips, a veterinarian afraid to practice again after being injured by an elephant under her care, and Brady Olafsson, a bestselling Christian author. Gina visits Valley Oaks, Bradys hometown, for her cousins wedding and is deter mined to leave as soon as it is over. Brady is to be her escort during the wedding ceremony, and they have to spend much time together. Even though both fight the growing attraction each feels for the other, Gods plan for their futures prevails in the end. Christian Library Journal
This is the first book by Sally John I have read. I loved it so much I couldnt stop reading! I learned so much about forgiveness and love. I cant wait to read the rest of her books. Amanda Davis
After All These Years Well done!!! It was a great bookI enjoyed it and read it in a 24hour period. Thanks so much for writing a story filled with so much love and grace. It sure showed me that I need to take the blinders off. That Chris tians arent perfect, just SOOOOOOOO forgiven. Denice Leavitt
Just to See You Smile These books are truly inspiring and I felt drawn closer to God myself after reading them. All of the books in Sally Johns The Other Way Home series are filled with the wonderful story of Gods love for us and also let us know that no matter how bad things may seem, life is full of second chances and many surprises as we walk along the paths of our lifes journey. When we have faith in Gods wisdom and trust Him to direct our paths, there is no limit to what can be achieved in our lives. Christian Library Journal
The Winding Road Home I couldnt put this book down because I wanted to know how it would end. It was a touching story of forgiveness and healing. It touched me per sonally and I know it will touch others personally who have encountered
similar situations. Kate was Tanners personal cheerleader, and she reminded me that God is our personal cheerleader, always encouraging us to continue on. I would give Sallys books a 10. I think that she shows the way to salvation in a simple way for all to see. I think it would bring any nonbeliever to question why they arent believing in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Patty Blake
As usual, Sallys story is captivating. I had tears in my eyes! The characters were so colorful, especially Adele and Kate. I could visualize everything about them. I truly wish this series would never end. Id like to get to know everyone who lives in Valley Oaks! Deborah Piccurelli
In a Heartbeat series: In a Heartbeat GREAT book. I dont normally read fiction but won this book from a local Christian radio station. My daughter read it first, as I was in the middle of another book, and finished it in two days. Its a cant put it down book. Its my turn now, and I have stayed up way into the late hours reading. I cant wait for followup books in this series. Great work, Sally!! Lisa Cunningham
Flash Point Sally John does such a tremendous job creating believable settings and genuine characters. Gabe and Terri are delightful, and you find yourself rooting for them as they attempt to make sense of their world while fol lowing their faith and facing tragedy. I laughed and cried right along with them. The Romance Readers Connection
Sally Johns characters show us how to live Godhonoring, fruitful lives in this broken, lessthanideal world. They falter and stumble, but along the path they show us the freedom of trusting God and of a healthy emotional life, and drop these truths lightly into our hearts. I may begin her books anticipating another takemeaway story, but soon into the journey, gentle truth seeps into my soul and I find nourishment for my realworld living. Margo Balsis
