What Readers Are Saying About Sally John…
The Other Way Home series:
A Journey by Chance “Everybody knows everything in tiny Valley Oaks. That puts Gina Philips at a distinct disadvantage when she arrives from California for a family wedding. Had she really thought four weeks in the Mid-west would help her recover from a failed relationship, a lost job, and a serious injury? Now, Gina can’t shake off Brady Olafsson, a successful Christian author who annoys her with hints of family mysteries. When Gina’s mom reveals a long-kept secret, it forever changes how Gina views her family, her future, and her relationship to Brady. First impressions need second looks as Gina witnesses faith in action.” Inspirational Market News
After All These Years
“At the center of The Other Way Home series is a group of warm and loving women, a medley of personalities and lifestyles bound together by their faith. Isabel Mendoza’s past is just a faded memory…until Tony Ward arrives in Valley Oaks. After All These Years,a novel of old love reunited and new love discovered, demonstrates how the redeeming grace of God can touch the past and bring healing and mercy into present-day life.” Inspirational Market News
Just to See You Smile
“These are the most compelling books that I have read in a long time. The average woman, such as myself, can easily relate to the characters. They are all fresh and unique, yet they are still everyday people. The plot lines run current with today’s issues, so a reader does not feel that the story is too ‘way out.’ Aside from those basics, Ms. John’s style madeJust to See You Smile, as well as the others, a
pure joy to read. I felt great disappointment when the book came to an end. I just hate to let go of the characters, as well as the story.” Deborah Piccurelli, author
The Winding Road Home
“Having just finished readingThe Winding Road Home, I’m not only pleased to offer this endorsement, but I also want to rush out and buy the rest of the series! Sally John creates unique, endearing characters and makes them live on the page. Their struggles, hurts, and tri-umphs become as real as those of family or close friends. You’ll relish every moment you spend with them.” Janelle Schneider, author
In a Heartbeat series:
In a Heartbeat
WOW! I feel as though I have been away for a while and I didn’t want to come back.In a Heartbeatwas incredible, wonderful, heart-warming, heartaching, loving—I absolutely loved it. We have to stop and remember that we do not always know what is going on in someone else’s life and why they are the way they are. We never know the whole story, and that is what I learned from this book. Patti John
I just finishedIn a Heartbeat, and it was fabulous! I cried for Rachel because I could relate in some ways about wanting a child so very badly and not being able to have one of my own. I dealt with not wanting to go to showers, not wanting to hear about another friend being pregnant, being asked when my husband and I would be having a child, etc. Now I am an adopted aunt and grandma to sev-eral young children and babies. Thank you for writing a book on a subject that DOES NOT get talked about even in this day and age. Rachel and Vic’s story will always have a special place in my reading life. Carol Hoefs

Acknowledgments
Many thanks to my “technical support team,” who rose graciously to the challenge of explaining emergency medicine to someone who didn’t have a clue. While I strove to realistically depict characters and events, the story is purely a figment of my imagination—which has been known to confuse the facts. Misrepresentations are mine and should in no way reflect on the caliber of these professionals. I hold these three in the highest esteem for their unselfish service in the emergency field. My thanks go to: Matt Shoemaker, graphic designer with Harvest House Publishers and EMT with the Monroe, Oregon, Fire Department. Nancy Teerlinck, flight paramedic, serving on special assignment as “pig doulah.” Jason Durbin, paramedic with the Chicago Fire Department. And my thanks go to those who helped with so many details along the way: Jo Ann Hull, for the connection. Shana Smith, project editor with Harvest House Publishers, for theespañol. Cindi Cox, Elizabeth John, Michael Skelton, and Sally Weckel, for eliminating my research time in various ways. Sandy Carlson, for taking on the role of personal assistant. My mother, Mary Carlson; Patti John; and Janet Fyfe, for the timely encouragement after they cried throughIn a Heartbeat. Kim Moore, my editor, for being the world’s best. Her wise and gracious fingerprints are on every page. My “other family” at Harvest House, which includeseveryone there. Tim, for loving me no matter what.
I will not wish thee riches nor the glow of greatness, but that wherever thou go some weary heart shall gladden at thy smile, or shadowed life know sunshine for a while. And so thy path shall be a track of light, like angels’ footsteps passing through the night.
