1.
At home with the pride

O nce upon a time, deep in an African jungle, there lived a young lion named Ashley.
Ashley lived with his massive family known as a pride, but he spent most of his days with his mum and dad named Olivia and Luther along with his two annoying little brothers Noah and Conor.
Ashley was quite a relaxed lion, a happy-go-lucky kind of fella and nothing really made him angry.
He had a very close circle of quite strange friends for a lion. There was Hugo the Crocodile who was totally the opposite to Ashley. He was a very snappy lad and if anything came near his swamp he would go berserk and see red instantly.

Then there was Ooo Ooo, the very sassy monkey who was Ashley’s oldest and dearest friend. Ooo Ooo was the sensible one and her clear thinking had kept her, Ashley and the gang out of A LOT of trouble!

Sally the Elephant was the most scaredy cat of them all. Sally didn’t ever want to go on exploring adventures or do anything with any kind of risk attached, which had earned her the friendly nickname within the group of ‘Safe Sal!’

Finally there was the clown of the pack and the trouble finder, Kobe the Bear. He had no sense of danger and lived life to the full, dragging his pals along for the ride!

2.
Trouble in paradise

I t was a boiling afternoon and Ashley was playing tug-of-war with a piece of old zebra skin outside with Noah and Conor. The boys were called in from their game by Olivia, who had knocked up their ultimate favourite dinner: antelope pasta bake.

While the boys were tucking in, Ashley could hear bickering from the living room. He couldn’t make out exactly what was being said - but it didn’t sound good. His parents hadn’t seemed happy for quite a while but he just put it down to Luther recently losing his well-paid job as security manager at the local diamond mine and the stresses this had brought to Luther and the family.
