Description

Seeded by starships from Earth, the world of Erm developed at different rates. Those people living in the east around the continent of Dakana did not retain the technology brought by the ships. Consequently, their rate of development was slower than those living in the western part of the world but this was being rectified quite quickly now.
The avatars of Earth who had accompanied the original ships were worried that the planet would suffer total destruction from pilfering of natural resources by the Orion confederation. Knowing that crystal skulls had been imbued with power by beings in Atlantis, they decide to utilise these hidden powers in raising a barrier around Erm.
After finding all the skulls, the avatars realised that there was one more to find which would bind the power to complete the barrier around the planet, the Golden Skull.
The Golden Skull had been in safekeeping with the Pleiadean council, who now had requested a being who could fly between worlds to return it to Erm; the dragon Geraunt.
Meanwhile, the avatars had requested various groups to combine to complete the mission of fetching the skull from the dragon and thereby erecting the barrier and while they are doing this, there are other mysteries revealed.

About the Author
Avril Flower was born in the Isle of Man; a land of mystics and fairies. She gained distinction in higher schools in Eng. Lang. and Eng. Lit.
After she married, she lived on tea plantations in India for seven years, where three of her four children were born.
She assisted her husband with his novel about romance in a tea garden.
Once she had emigrated, she taught Primary School in low decile schools in N.Z. for 37 years.
She had always been interested in Fantasy and Science Fiction, and has written two previous books in this series.
When Avril became ill, she asked her daughter to finish the third book of the trilogy. Which her daughter has done with some trepidation as she is not an English scholar. Hopefully this has been done without too much of a change from when Avril finished and Shelkara took over.

Chapter One
James woke from the dream with a feeling of horror and agony. He sat up abruptly, peeling off the layers of covers, and was aware he had woken with cramp in his thigh. He jumped out of bed and stretched his muscles while standing on the cold of the marble floor. When the pain had subsided, he looked around at his surroundings. Of course! They had returned to Jadanna. On what appeared to be, final leave. Still feeling a trifle strange, he walked out of the bedroom leaving Serena contentedly asleep. He walked cautiously to the balcony adjacent to the bedroom and gazed out over the sleeping city.
This was the first time he had visited Serena’s home since their hurried wedding on their previous leave. In fact, it had been so hurried he had not been able to contact his parents to have them be there for the ceremony. The leave had been only a matter of days, which included the wedding and a couple of days on honeymoon before they were sent back on the observation mission.
James was quite overawed by the opulence of the city, with its marble palaces and shining spires. He knew her father was the Jada of Jadanna, but had expected a simpler land and a people less sophisticated. The city as it spread out in front of him, with its myriad roofs shining in the early morning light, was totally absorbing. It spoke to him of intrigue, plots and adventure.
Leaning on the balcony, James could smell the astringent air blowing in from the sea. The cool of the night belied the heat of the day, which he had found stifling and uncomfortable. He considered their future. Since the member from Argent had demanded their release from the supervision of Orion. The World Council had voted that a relay of supervisors should be appointed on a three-yearly posting, to be watchdogs. They were needed, as the Orions could not be trusted to keep the amount of water they were pilfering from Erm at a sustainable level. Although they had an additional supply, it was more difficult to mine ice from the comet, and they would rather just siphon water from Erm. He supposed that in the future they might be wanted again, particularly as Serena knew the language well and he was starting to pick up more than just the basic smatterings of it, but they needed occupation in the interim.
There was a swoosh of sound as a night heron dropped from the roof and perched on the balustrade of the balcony. A pair of gleaming eyes scrutinised James as he stood in the shadows. James fingered his earring, given him by Vi
