MEDICAL WHAT IS ? TECHNOLOGY
Doctors use all kinds of things to help make people better. A simple plaster can cover a small cut. A beam of light called alasercan be used to improve sight. Alife-support machinecan keep a body going for a few days whilst someone recovers from serious illness orsurgery. All of these are examples of medical technology.
Looking inside the body Doctors often need to be able to see inside our bodies to find out what is wrong with us. Lots of medical technology is used to help them. X-rays are good at showing up broken bones. MRI scans and CAT (CT) scans can show doctors any problems with the softer organs of our bodies, such as the liver or lungs.
This MRI scan shows the brain inside a skull.
