Terminology Data- information that can be measured or counted. Tally marks- lines drawn to show numbers when counting. Tally marks are always shown in 5’s (4 lines, with one line through as the 5th line) e.g. 12 will be shown as Graph- a graph is a visual way to show the data that has been measured or counted and makes it easier to interpret the data. There are many different types of graphs, e.g. tally graphs, pictograph, bar graphs, column graphs, pie charts, etc. Tally Graphs Exercise 1: The lunch boxes of Mrs Smith’s Grade 4 class were investigated.
