The young lady is a short novel by Emilia Pardo Bazan published in 1885. Set in Marineda, a litrary transcript of La Coruna, it tells the story of two sisters, Dolores and Concha, who face life from different positions. The former, seduced and disgusted, who "hated men", takes refuge in the grids of the confessional, while Concha struggles to achieve a higher social position: to go from seamstress to theater artist.
