Description
- genehmigte Dissertation von Master of Science in Agriculture Dang Thi Van geboren am 31.07.1964 in NamDinh, Vietnam 2009 Referent: Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Jacobsen Korreferent: Prof. Edgar Maiß Tag der Promotion: 07.12.2009 ABSTRACT I ABSTRACT Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), belonging to the Geminiviridae (Genus: Begomovirus), constitutes a serious constraint to tomato production worldwide and leads, especially in the tropics and subtropics, to large economical losses. Resistant tomato varieties are powerful tool to control TYLCV disease. However, nearly all commercially available tomato varieties are susceptible to TYLCV and resistance genes are mainly present in wild type tomato. Genetic engineering can provide a potential solution for the introduction of beneficial traits including virus resistance.
