Knoll im Zeitraum zwischen June 2006 bis Mai 2008 am Max-Planck Institute für polymerforschung, Mainz, Deutschland angefertigt. 1 Introduction 1.1 Overview and aim of this work Biomolecular interactions and molecular recognition processes are important to understand biological phenomena such as immunologic reactions and signal transduction. In addition, these biological recognition reactions have been proposed to be used in biosensor application. A number of analysis techniques used in biology, medicine and pharmacy have been developed over the past years. Novel detection methods have been developed which combine the specificity of biomolecular recognition systems with the advantages of instrumental analysis. Thus, biosensor devices have gained importance in areas like medical diagnostic, quality control and environmental analysis.
