Une épreuve est élaborée dans laquelle le sujet doit effectuer des choix successifs en prenant garde à ne pas utiliser parmi les moyens de réponse mis à sa disposition ceux qui lui seront indispensables ultérieurement. Trois expériences réalisées avec des élèves de 10 à 11 ans ont montré que : a) Souligner la présence d'une alternative par l'énumération des diverses possibilités de réponse est sans effet sur le déclenchement d'une conduite anticipatrice, sauf après un échec antérieur ; b) La découverte au sein d'un segment initial d'activité de l'existence de restrictions au répertoire des choix n'étant pas généralisée aux segments ultérieurs, aucune conduite anticipatrice d'ensemble ne s'ensuit ; c) L'échec suscite des conduites anticipatrices chez des sujets qui en étaient dépourvus antérieurement ; d) Outre une anticipation d'ensemble nécessaire à la réussite de la tâche, des formes plus élémentaires d'anticipation peuvent être distinguées.
A test is divised in which the subject is supposed to make successive choices, but to keep all the time from choosing those elements of solution put at his disposal which which will be indispensable to him later on.
