Comment intervenir auprès des pères? : Le point de vue des intervenants psychosociaux par Judith Gaudet, B.Sc en psychologie Étudiante au doctorat en psychologie, UQAM Annie Devault, Ph.D. psychologie Professeure en travail social, UQAH Although programs have been developed in the last two decades to promote father involvement and to support fathers in their parental role, reaching this clientele and understanding their needs remain difficult. This preliminary study aimed at describing the psychosocial change agents’ perceptions of fathers, their needs and the interventions to meet their needs. Eleven interviews were conducted with psychosocial change agents who work either with families or specifically with fathers from the Outaouais region. Transcripts were analyzed qualitatively. Results suggest that agents consider father-child activities and self-help groups to be good ways to support fathers. Some agents regard fathers’ parental abilities negatively and remain reluctant to offer to the fathers services tailored to their needs.
