PANSU*, S. TOSTAIN et M. PINTA Laboratoire de Spectrographie, Orstorn, 70-74 Route d’Aulnay, 93140 Bondy (France) SUMMARY 4 Gns chroitintographic study of variatioiis in the amounts offatty acids in millet seeds To investigate new millet hybrids more accurate methods for the analysis of seed components are needed. For example, the study of small variations in amounts of fatty acids requires a better knowledge of sources of errors in their quantitatii,e chromatographic determination. The results of the extraction-trans- methylation method used have been verified by saponification and methylation. The resulting variability is not higher than that due to chromatographic determination (0.5 y<). Precautions to avoid some unexpected errors have been taken. The multi- variate analysis of the results, seed by seed, makes it possible to collect those fro1.n the sanie en. Sterols determined in these seeds cannot be used as biochemical tracers, since their quantities are too low and not sufficiently variable. INTRODUCTION La teneur en huile des graines de mil a été estimée à 4-5 %. Elle est similaire et même légèrement supérieure (surtout pour l’acide palmitique) à celles du maïs, sorgho et autres céréales3. Si ...
