December 29, 2009: Bible Study Scripture Reference: Mark 5:36 Topic: “Keep the Faith” Introduction: Jesus will meet us on the road of desperation. The story begins with a man who worked in the church, but was concerned about the church being too ritualistic to help his serious problem. He knew that if He called on Jesus, He could help, but would the help come too late? I. In Distress: Christ is willing (vs. 21-24): His daughter is at the point of death, Jairus was at the point of desperation. A desperate home needs the presence of God. It’s not enough to just know what goes on at church, but I need the presence of Christ in my home. Jairus was settled that he would rather have had that than to hold on to his position. Remember that Christ is willing. II. In Delay: Christ is working (vs. 25-34): The people are thronging Jesus and a woman breaks through who has suffered a prolonged sickness. Jesus teaches us that: 1. Other people are looking for Jesus too, and 2. We must be patient because He knows we need Him too. This woman was desperate enough to break through. Jesus wanted Jairus and others around Him know that just because He was blessing others didn’t mean He wouldn’t bless Jairus too. III. In Deliverance: Christ is watching (vs. 35-36): Jesus wants us to know it’s never a bother for Him to help us.
