Ma¨rz 2010 angenommen.Abstract:It is well established that at least two neutrinos are massive. The absolute neutrino massscale and the neutrino hierarchy are still unknown. In addition, it is not known whether theneutrino is a Dirac or a Majorana particle.The GERmanium Detector Array (GERDA) will be used to search for neutrinoless double76beta decay of Ge. The discovery of this decay could help to answer the open questions.76In the GERDA experiment, germanium detectors enriched in the isotope Ge are used assource and detector at the same time. The experiment is planned in two phases. In thefirst, phase existing detectors are deployed. In the second phase, additional detectors willbe added. These detectors can be segmented.
