It is a hybrid technique using short pulsedradiation to induce a pressure profile in the skin which carries the information about thelight distribution and which is released in an ultrasonic transient unhamperedly travelingbacktothepressuresensorabovetheskin.Accordingly, the first part of the thesis at hand deals with the development of the neces saryexperimentalandanalyticaltoolsfortheinvivoinvestigations.During this dissertation project, a previous first design of the optoacoustic detector wasoptimizedaccordingtothedemandsofsensitivehumanskin.
