Mai 2003 Abstract Neuronal migration is central to the development of nervous systems. In the developing nervous system, most neurons are generated at different sites from those in which they permanently reside (Rakic, 1990). Thus, directed cell migration is necessary to bring these neurons to their ultimate destination (Hatten 1999). The dynamic regulation of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and its effector enzyme soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) during the formation of the nervous system has lead to the suggestion that NO and cyclic nucleotide signalling plays a functional role in the development of nervous systems. Here I investigated an example of neuronal migration in the enteric nervous system (ENS) of the grasshopper.
