This lifestyle is related with many health problems. Despite the urgency of the situation, no study has focused on the role of fitness clubs in promoting long-term physical activity, a factor that is believed to enhance public health. Goal of the study To test the international figures that show that close to 50% of fitness clients give up their membership 6 months after their subscription. The last study to date is Janet Buckworth and Rod K. Dishman’s (2002) “Interventions to change physical activity behaviour”, in “Exercise Psychology” (Human Kinetics Editions). Moreover, this study aims to gather information about clients who want to either continue or discontinue a fitness programme and to give tips to fitness managers and staff on how to increase chances for a client to continue exercising within a fitness club.
