November 2010AbstractThis thesis presents a methodological as well as tool-based integration of Model-Driven Development (MDD) and Service-Oriented Computing (SOC). Model-driven devt is a process for creating software by employing models todesign and analyse a system before source code, while service-orientedcomputing is based on Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs) for structuringsoftware systems by using the concept of services, which are self-describing net-worked software artefacts o ering a particular encapsulated functionality.Four main results are contributed to this area. First, we provide a UML-based, domain-speci c modelling language speci cally targeted at modellingservice behaviour and service protocols. Secondly, these models are given arigorous semantics based on transition systems, and a veri cation method isprovided.
