The subject of the present study was the kinetic characterisation of the respi-ratory substrate supply in a grassland ecosystem. For this purpose, a methodology wasdeveloped for generation and analysis of tracer kinetics in ecosystem respiration in thefield. Specifically, the relative contributions and the turnover of the main carbon sourceswere studied. Discrepancies between belowground respiratory CO production and soil2CO efflux were of particular interest, as they are relevant for the measurement accuracy.2Material & Methods.
