Februar 2011 Abstract / Kurzfassung Abstract Not only in Europe but also in Taiwan, local and regional planning authorities have begun to focus on the state of urban rivers that are under pressure from many different uses and impacts. Furthermore, society places many demands on the ecosystems of urban rivers. For example, urban rivers and their flood plains must satisfy needs for recreation, drinking water, biodiversity and flood protection. Many rivers are heavily modified and cannot provide these ecosystem services sufficiently.
