The aim of this thesis was to develop a fully automated on-line extraction HPLC-DAD screening method for the determination of compounds in urine with access to a commercially available UV spectra library with approximately 2600 reference spectra for compound identification. The method should allow simple analysis of those compounds that are difficult to detect in plasma due to short half-lives in blood (e.g. alkaloids) and therefore usually require work- and/or cost-intensive analytical methods. Furthermore, the method should be used for drugs of abuse (DOA) confirmation screening in urine.
