Witt Tag der mündlichen Prüfung: 18.11.2008 Abstract I Abstract In this thesis a micro reformer fuel cell system ( μRFCS) for 300 W off-grid power supply, fuelled elwith bioethanol, was simulated, designed, developed and investigated in a test-rig. First a literature study was carried through to point out the specific characteristics of micro reforming, the most important being heat transfer, and present the systems currently under research and already on the market. As a next step, the processes of the RFCS were simulated with the commercial simulation tool CHEMCAD. This comprised thermodynamic equilibrium simulations for the separate reactions of steam reforming, water gas shift and selective methanation.
