Oktober 2005AbstractShell-type supernova remnants are discussed to be a main source of thegalactic cosmic rays. Very high energy γ-rays (energies between 30GeV and30TeV) from these objects are a tracer for the acceleration of particles. Upto now, only a limited number of supernova remnants were observed in γ-rays. This work reports on the observations of γ-rays from the shell-typesupernova remnant RXJ0852.0−4622 carried out with the High EnergyStereoscopic System in February 2004.H.E.S.S., a system of four imaging Cherenkov telescopes, is dedicated tothe observation of γ-rays of energies between 100GeV and several tens ofTeV. It is currently the most sensitive instrument in its energy range.
