Three mixing angles ( ; ; )12 23 13are describing the magnitude of this e ect. Still unknown, is considered very13small, based on the measurement done by the CHOOZ experiment. Although the-oretical models cannot explain the big di erence between and the other two13mixing angles, the true value is likely not far from the present bound. Never-13theless, a non-zero value of allows to experimentally access fundamental physics13such as CP violation in the leptonic sector.In the near future, the experiments which aim to explore the region allowed byCHOOZ, are based on two complementary approaches.
