Since 1960 it has been dedicated to meet-ing the needs of its constituencies by providing comprehensive educational pro-grams. The college’s most recent visioning retreat held in 1998 was a broad-based process involving a collective revision of the institution’s mission state-ment to ensure that it strongly reflects the college’s continuing involvement inand commitment to its community. As a result of this retreat, the District Boardof Trustees approved a new policy, 6Hx2-2.05, which delineates the currentmission, beliefs and purpose of the college. These statements are also listed inthe Broward Community College 2001-2002 Catalog. The college is governed by the five-member District Board of Trusteesof Broward Community College, which sets policies that are carried outthrough the institution’s administrative structure.
