Knowl-edge of the inner workings of such systems is commonly portrayedas networks on different levels: gene regulatory networks, metabolicnetworks, and signal transduction networks. With the advent of thenew field “systems biology”, whole cell models come into reach thatintegrate these different networks and further cellular processes.
