Description
George Home was a 19-year-old midshipman on the Bellerophon, the ship Napoleon boarded after the Battle of the Waterloo when he tried to claim political asylum in Britain. Home was on the same vessel as the Emperor for three weeks and his memoirs of the events he experienced, what occurred, and what he witnessed are absolutely fascinating. Home is the antidote to those biased and bigoted British historians that claim everyone in England hated Napoleon. Although he had fought against the French and Napoleon was his enemy, Home's admiration for the fallen Emperor was immense.
