Die Arbeit ist im Rahmen des DFG-Projektes TRAIT (Tsunami Risks, Vulnerability and Resilience at the Andaman Coast of Thailand) entstanden, das auf einer deutsch-thailändischen Forschungskooperation zwischen den Universitäten in Kiel, Hannover und München (LMU) sowie in Bangkok (Chulalongkorn University) basiert. Der Projektbeginn war der 1. Oktober 2007.
