Description
Over 4000 chipped-stone objects were found during the excavation of Tell 'Atij, a Ninevite 5 site located in the middle Habur valley in North Syria. About three-fourths of these flints were discovered in the central part of the main tell of the site. This article presents the results of the spatial and stratigraphic distribution of this lithic material. The identification of particular sectors linked to the production and utilisation of flint tools allows us to better understand the occupation of the site. Moreover, changes observed in the material over time, from one level to another, permits us to appreciate its evolution and its importance for the inhabitants of Tell 'Atij at the beginning of the third millenium.
