Services such as telemedicine, telehealth, Electronic Health Record (EHR)systems are common terms and practices in the actual medical-care sector. A main characteristicof Healthcare Information Systems (HISs) is that they are very data-intensive systems. In thisrespect, a major problem is the lack of product interoperability. Many vendors provide solutions, which are rather provider-centric approaches (i.e., proprietary protocols and message formats),hence, interoperability is not regarded. The can be evaluated by means of interoperability testing.
