Job creation in innovative relational services - The case of services to private individuals

This paper is a summary of the findings of the German fieldwork of a research funded by
the programme „Improving the Human Research Potential and the Socio-Economic
Knowledge Base“ of DG Research of the European Commission. The main objective of this
research, which was carried out by a research consortium of partners in five EU countries
co-ordinated by ORESEU in France was to study job creation, the characteristics of
employment and innovative approaches and experience in relational services (IRS)
consumed by private individuals, such as childcare, elder care, educational leisure and
social mediation in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The research
project run from 2003 to 2006 and will be completed by a series of international and
national workshops and conferences.
