DREAMWEAVER MX Episode 2 Tutorial Step 1 : Create Virtual Directories in IIS 5.1 • Normally, plain html or client-side script (such as Javascript) is executed by the browser. If you want connectivity to a database, you have to use server-side script (in our tutorial we are using ASP) which as the name suggests, processed by a web server. • If you are using Windows XP or Windows 2000, IIS is probably installed already in your PC. IIS is the web server which is required for processing any server side scripts. Just follow these steps. • If your operating system is Windows 98 or ME, you cannot use IIS but you must have PWS installed. To configure PWS refer to the additional notes. • Click Start, point to Programs, double click to open Administrative Tools, and then double click Internet Services Manager (or Internet Information Services).
