MAY 2009 COMMENT SUMMARY Introduction In May 2009, 49 comments were submitted to the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Program. Comment categories We have six comment categories: transportation, design/construction, economic, transit, environmental/public safety and structures/locations. Each comment submitted is categorized by the content of the message. Please note that some comments fit into more than one category, while others do not fit into any of the categories. The bullet points below were extracted from the May comments. Transportation: This category includes comments related to traffic, connections/circulation, pedestrians and bicycles. In May, there were five comments in this category. Below is a sampling. • I live in West Seattle and was interested in information on what the impact will be during construction. Does the deep bore option allow the viaduct to stay open during construction? • How, exactly, are people from Ballard, Magnolia and parts of Queen Anne supposed to get into this new tunnel? • What are the impacts to parking by the waterfront?
