Needles:
Version 1: 2.75mm (US 2) and 3.25mm (US 3) 60cm (24") circular needles and one set of
2.75mm double points

Tension
Tension for Version 1: 28 sts = 4" on 3.25mm (US 3) needles over stocking stitch
Tension for Version 2: 22 sts = 4" on 4mm (US 6) needles over stocking stitch
Check your tension carefully, counting the stitches of the centre 4" of a 6" square. Change
your needle size as you need to get the right tension before you begin.
Abbreviations:
rnd = round
K2tog = knit two sts together as if they were one.
yo = yarn over needle
Sl = slip
p2sso = pass 2 slipped sts over
Instructions
Version 1:
With 2.75mm (US 2) circular needles, and Main Colour, cast on 216 (240, 264)
sts. Knit one rnd, Purl one rnd. Repeat the last two rounds 2 more times. 6 rnds
Change to stocking stitch and 3.25mm (US 3) circular needles and work the remainder of the
top in fair isle pattern, following the graph.
Shape Armholes:
When the piece measures 14" ending on the 5th of a colour change on the
graph pattern, work across the first 18 sts and slip them onto a st holder. Work across next
108 (120, 132) sts. Slip the last 18 sts onto a holder and work the remaining 90 (102, 114)
sts to the beginning of the rnd.
Make Sleeves:
Next rnd: Turn work to the wrong side and cast on 54 (60, 66) sts. Turn to the
right side and work across 90 (102, 114) sts. Turn to the wrong side and cast on 54 (60, 66)
sts. Turn to the right side and work the remaining 90 (102, 114) sts. Work these 288 (324,
360) sts for a further 4.5", ending on a rnd that requires a colour change in the fair isle
pattern.
Neck Shaping:
Next rnd: *K2tog, K4* to end of rnd adjusting fair isle pattern according to
graph for neck shaping. Work 4 more rnds. Next rnd: *K2tog, K3* to the end of rnd, then
work the final 3 rnds from the graph for neck shaping. 192 (216, 240) sts
Change to 2.75mm (US 2) circular needles and Main Colour. *Knit one rnd, Purl one rnd*
twice. Cast off.
With 2.75mm (US 2) double points and Main Colour, slip and knit the stitches from one
armhole stitch holder and pick up and knit one st for every cast on stitch of the sleeve. *Knit
one rnd, Purl one rnd* twice. Cast off. Repeat for opposite armhole.
Version 2:
With 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles, cast on 168 (188, 200) sts. Work in K2, P2
rib. Change to stocking stitch and 4mm (US 6) circular needles.
Size Small and Medium Only:
Increase 1 st at the beginning of the round

in the next st and Kto the end of rnd.
All Sizes:
Work the remainder of the top in stocking stitch. 170 (190, 200) sts
Shape Armholes:
When the piece measures 14", work across the first 15 sts and slip them
onto a st holder. Work across next 85 (95, 100) sts. Slip the last 15 sts onto a holder and
work the remaining 70 (80, 85) sts to the beginning of the rnd.
Make Sleeves:
Next rnd: Turn work to the wrong side and cast on 45 (50, 55) sts. Turn to the
right side and work across 70 (80, 85) sts. Turn to the wrong side and cast on 45 (50, 55) sts.
Turn to the right side and work the remaining 70 (80, 85) sts. Work these 230 (260, 280) sts
for a further 4".
Neck Shaping:
Next rnd: *K2tog, K3* to end of rnd. Work 4 more rnds. Next rnd: *K2tog, K2*
to the end of rnd, then work 2 rnds. 138 (156, 168) sts.
Size Small Only:
K2tog at the beginning of next rnd. K 68 sts, K2tog, K to end. 136 sts
All Sizes:
Change to 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles and work in K2, P2 rib for 6 rnds..
With 3.5mm (US 4) double points, slip and knit the stitches from one armhole stitch holder
and pick up and knit one st for every cast on stitch of the sleeve. Work in K2, P2 rib for 6
rnds. Cast off. Repeat for opposite armhole.

rnds 1-6: Dots = Chocolate, Squares = Bright Pink

Break yarn . Weave yarn end through the remaining 10 sts. Sew side edges together with
cast on yarn end. Draw the 10 sts closed and stitch firmly.
Flower Centre: With another small amount of scrap yarn, cast on 10 sts and work 6 rnds in
stocking stitch. Weave yarn end through the sts on the needle, sew side edges together with
cast on yarn end. Draw the 10 sts closed and stitch firmly. Stuff with a bit of remaining yarn.
Weave through the cast on edge and draw firmly closed. With yarn darner, stitch through the
little stuffed ball at the centre where the ends were drawn closed. Pull tightly to make a
little dimple in the centre. Use this yarn end to sew to the centre of the flower. Attach a pin
to the back of the flower.
