exacte en la formulant de différentes manières, avec différentes citations et niveaux de langue. Veuillez à la correction de la langue. Cette proposition de corrigé correspond au niveau attendu pour des élèves de terminales.
Document A
A. The scene is set in New York City, according to the reference to the Hudson River (line 3) and Manhattan (line 20).
B. 1. The characters are Eddie and Beck (the hermit).
2.They are fishing.
C.The scene takes place : a.at the beginning of the 20th century because:
- “he knew it wouldn’t be long before the countryside disappeared“(line 7)
-“this section of north Manhattan was still dotted with small farms.” (line 18)
D. The 3 types of construction are bridges, houses (village and farms) and apartment buildings.
E.a. Eddie feels agitated: he “joined the hermit in the agitation over the constant building” (line 21)
b. Beck is really mad at urbanization : he could “to kill any man who hunted the wildlife” (line 14)
2. Eddie is looking at the city and he knows it is growing. It is only at the end of the text that he shows he doesn’t agree. It seems Beck has been against urbanization and to a certain extent capitalism, for a long time.
F. It is early on the morning, Eddie decides to spend a bucolic and pastoral moment, he seems nostalgic about Manhattan being rural :
- “he knew it wouldn’t be long before the countryside disappeared“(line 7)
- it is irreversible : “apartment buildings were rising everywhere” (line 20), as a last laconic sentence.
