SITUACIÓN DE LOS RECURSOS GENÉTICOS DOMÉSTICOS LOCALES DEL URUGUAY (SITUATION OF THE LOCAL DOMESTIC GENETIC RESOURCES IN URUGUAY)

Resumen
El Uruguay a pesar de ser un país netamente agropecuario (un 65 p.100 de sus exportaciones son debidas a este rubro), no basa su producción en razas locales. Los recursos genéticos locales están apartados del sistema productivo principalmente debido al desconocimiento de sus características productivas y a la buena adaptación de las razas extranjeras. En el siguiente trabajo se presentan los principales recursos genéticos domésticos locales en las especies bovina, ovina, caprina, porcina, equina y canina.
Abstract
Uruguay is a country clearly specialised in the livestock production (65 percent of its exportations come from this activity), but this farming is not based on local breeds. The native genetic resources are separated of the productive system, it is principally due to the few knowledge of their productive characteristics and the good adaptation of foreign breeds. In this paper the local domestic genetic resources of the species bovine, ovine, caprine, swine, equine and canine are presented.
