Hypatia de Alejandría.(Hypatia of Alexandria)

Hypatia is considered the first woman to make significant contributions to the development of mathematics and the first woman scientist in history. Although also made contributions in philosophy and astronomy, is more recognized for her work in mathematics. At a time when women had no access to education and let alone science, her intelligence, ease of expression and beauty made the Christian church leaders to consider her a witch, so she was killed as enemy of the prevailing religious beliefs.
