Description
How Will Jeff Session͛s Policies Impact the Current Criminal Justice System? Senator Jeff Sessions will promise strong prosecution against gun crimes and show understanding for the efforts of the civil rights regarding African Americans. Sessions has been rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1986 for a federal judgeship. This was during the time he was accused of making racially thoughtless comments that led the civil rights advocates to launch an active crusade so that he will be denied for the post of attorney general. Now, Sessions will also affirm independence from the man who picked him for the job President-elect Donald Trump. An article by al.com states that"As he seeks to convince his colleagues he is worthy of being the next U.S. attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions will cast himself as an old-school law enforcer who will crack down on violent crime, work to improve morale at local police departments and remain fiercely independent of the president who appointed him, according to a prepared copy of remarks he will make at his confirmation hearing that begins Tuesday." According to the article, Sessions will say in his remarks that"He or she must be willing to tell the president 'no' if he overreaches. He or she cannot be a mere rubber stamp to any idea the president has.
