"Far away and long ago": William Henry Hudson vs. Guillermo Enrique Hudson

Resumen
Nuestro objetivo es realizar el esbozo de un estudio contrastivo de dos traducciones literarias del inglés al español
y en concreto, a partir del capítulo VI de la biografía Far away and long ago, del ornitólogo y escritor anglo-argentino William Henry Hudson (1841-1922), admirado por autores tales como Conrad, Lawrence o Borges. La primera versión, de Fernando Pozzo y Celia Rodríguez Pozzo, fue publicada en Argentina en 1948
la segunda, en España, en 2003, rubricada por Miguel Temprano García. Desde un análisis estilístico general, nuestro estudio examina las divergencias entre ambas traducciones, para finalizar debatiendo sobre el excesivo localismo de la versión argentina, que denota un intento claro de domesticación del texto inglés y de argentinizar a su autor.

Abstract
Our objective is to draft a comparative study between two literary translations from English into Spanish, specifically from chapter VI of Far away and long ago, a biography by the Anglo-Argentinean William Henry Hudson (1841-1922), an ornithologist and writer admired by writers like Conrad, Lawrence or Borges. The first version, by Fernando Pozzo and Celia Rodríguez Pozzo, was published in Argentina in 1948
the second version, by Miguel Temprano García was published in Spain in 2003. Our study will examine the differences between these two translations, to discuss the excessive local character of the Argentinean version which reflects a clear intent of domesticating the English text and of argentinizing its English author.
