Estudio morfológico de órganos genitales tubulares de vacas Nguni (Landim) en Mozambique - Morphological study of tubular genital tract of Nguni (Landim) cows in Mozambique

Resumen
Con el objetivo de conocer las dimensiones y peso del tracto genital tubular de vacas Nguni (Landim) de Mozambique, se desarrolló un estudio morfológico de órganos obtenidos en el matadero municipal de Maputo. La medición, pesaje y otras valoraciones, así como el procesamiento de los datos se realizaron en los
laboratorios y gabinetes de la Facultad de Veterinaria de la Universidad Eduardo Mondlane en Maputo. Se realizó el pesado total de los genitales y las mediciones de la abertura vulvar, clítoris, vestíbulo vaginal, total de vagina, cuello uterino con conteo de los anillos, cuerpo uterino, cuernos uterinos con conteo de las carúnculas y trompas uterinas. Al momento del sacrificio, la edad media de los animales fue de 8,09 ± 2,69 años (66% entre 5 y 10 años) con una condición corporal promedio evaluada de 2,73 ± 0,42 puntos (50% entre 3 y 3,5). El promedio del peso de los órganos genitales fue de 728 ± 244,26 g. La abertura vulvar, longitud de la vagina, dimensiones del cérvix, número de anillos, longitud de los cuernos y las trompas, se mantuvieron dentro de rangossemejantes a los reportados en la literatura. No encontramos cuellos uterinos curvos, como se ha reportado en el ganado Cebú, sin embargo el tamaño del clítoris se comportó por encima de los reportes internacionales y lo más significativo fue que la longitud del cuerpo del útero estuvo muy por debajo de
lo reportado en la literatura, con un promedio de 1,01 cm (54% por debajo de 1 cm). Se concluye que en general las dimensiones del aparato genital en estas hembras son semejantes a las reportadas para ganado de leche exceptuando la abertura vulvar y la longitud del cuerpo del útero.
Summary
With the objective of knowing the dimensions and weight of the tubular genital tract of Nguni (Landim) cattle of Mozambique, a morphological study of organs obtained in the municipal slaughterhouse of Maputo was developed. We measured and weighted organs and did other valuations in the laboratories and
cabinets of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo. We carried out the total weighing of the genital and the measurements of vulva, clitoris, vagina, cervix, uterine body, uterine horns,
and oviducts and also the counting of the cervical rings and uterine caruncules. At the moment of the sacrifice, the average age of the animals was 8.09 ± 2.69 years (66% between 5 and 10 years) with an evaluated body condition score average of 2.73 ± 0.42 points (50% between 3 and 3,5). The average of the weight of the genital organs was of 728 ± 244.26 g. The vulvar opening longitude, vaginal and cervical dimensions, number of cervical rings, longitude of the horns and the oviducts had similar ranges to those reported in the literature. We didn't find curved uterine cervix as reported in the Zebu cattle, however the size of the clitoris behaved above the international reports and the most significant thing was that the longitude of the body of the uterus was very below that reported in the literature, with an average of 1.01 cm (54% below 1 cm). We concluded that the dimensions of the genital tract in these females were similar to those reported for milk cattle except that of the vulvar dimension and longitude of the body of the uterus.
