Description
Abstract
Cestoids resistance in sheep against albendazole and febendazole was evaluated in three farms in La Paz: one located near Tambillo (Farm 1), other near Tihuanacu (Farm 2) and the other near Batallas (Farm 3). Thirty male lambs of 8 to 9 months of age were selected in each farm and treatments were: Group control, group treated with 10 mg/kg of albendazole and group treated with 10 mg/kg of febendazole. The parameters studied were: faecal eggs count reduction test (FECRT) and slaughter. The lambs were slaughtered 21 days after treatment and the number of cestode counted. The reduction of the oviposition was evaluated in the weed 2 and 3 ofter-treatment. It was observed higher to 95% of reduction of the oviposición in the farm 1 for both anthelmintic. In the farm 2 were observed 57% of reduction of the oviposición for febendazole and 68% reduction for the albendazol with T. actinioides the most resistant continued by M. expansa. In the farm 3 the resistance to febendazole was observed mainly in Thysanosoma actinioides and continued by Moniezia expansa. The percentage of reduction cestode in lambs slaughtered were: in farm 1 higher to 80% for both antihelmintic, in the farm 2 for febendazole with 42%, for albendazol of 64% of reduction of T. actinioides, and in the farm 3 the efficacy was smaller to the farm 2 for febendazole and albendazole of T. actinioides and M. expansa. It was concluded than exist anthelminthic resistance of T. actinioides and M. expansa to febendazole in farm 2 and 3, while the resistance to albendazole is in establishment process.
