Abstract
The bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) belongs toa group of neurodegenerative disease called transmissible spongiform encephalopaties (TSEs) that it includes ti Creutzfeld-Jakob`s Disease (CJD) with his new variant (vCJD) in human and the Scrapie in animals. These pathologies are characterized for being mortal, having a long period of incubation, neurological progressive sings and for presenting vacuoles in the gray matter of the nervous central system (SNC). The etiologic agent of these pathologies called ?prion? (infectious particle protein, PrP) and consists of an infective isoform (PrPSc) of a cellular normal constitutive protein (PrPC) that have a great resistence to the proteinase K. In spite of that in Chile have not been diagnosed cases of BSE, it is important to rely on diagnostic tools of high specificity, rapid and recognized internationally, for which was realized a inmunodetection of PrP by means of a ?kit? of ELISA. 90 samples of obex´s bovine major of 30 months of old from slaughterhouses of Metropolitan Region were analyzed. Initially 2 suspicious samples obtained, which after a new assasy they added to the rest of those who were negative previously, obtaining finally 100% of the samples in study negatives to BSE. From this study the guidelines were stablished for the implementation of this diagnostic method for the BSE in our country, which allows us to rely on of the diagnostic tools more fast, recognozed and used worldwide for prevention, control and the recognition of BSE.
